In the latest issue of Martha Stewart Living there is an article featuring Darcy Miller, editorial director of Martha Stewart Weddings and her keepsake scrapboxes. Basically she takes regular box frames and pairs her pictures with memorabilia that coincides with that event. So adorable!!

This DIY project is so fun and can be done over time as you collect meaningful pieces. This is a fun alternative to scrapbooking.

Here are some of my favorite scrapboxes that Darcy created for her home:

Shabby Chic

Despite my love for clean sharp modern decor I have always had a real soft spot for Shabby Chic pieces.
"The term “shabby chic” was coined in the 1980s by interior designer Rachel Ashwell (who later founded the decor company by the same name), but the style takes its origins from British homes decorated from the 1900s to 1950s in an understatedly stylish way, combining an array of worn furniture and antique treasures that didn’t necessarily follow any unified theme. In the past decade, the style has become a defined trend as designers such as Martha Stewart and Debbie Travis have embraced the style and in 2004, Rachel Ashwell partnered with Target to create Simply Shabby Chic, a line of inexpensive furniture and accessories. Now, shabby chic has proven to be a style with stamina and a popular, inexpensive method of creating a harmonious effect out of a medley of mismatched items by painting them white. While the idea of reusing old furniture wasn’t born out of a “green” conscience, it’s now a popular decorating choice if you’re looking to create an eco-friendly home." HGTV
I am thinking of decorating our second bedroom with this "shabby chic" theme in mind, here is my inspiration right now:

Oh Deer!

Inspired by a friend of mine who has deer antlers all over his house, I have begun an official search for my own pair to either be placed over my new bed or in the dining room, TBD! There is something about mixing modern crisp whites with rustic horns/antlers and rich woods that I love.
After scouring the internet I have found a few candidates, (both bull horns and deer antlers):

Not too rustic but still fun!
